Love not thy Neighbour!

Hi fortunate ones,

Though my I.Q and B.Q (Body Quotient) is far far ahead of you, I feel my heart warming up to you. Though not everybody is born great like me, nothing can stop you from becoming one.

First, let me introduce myself: Iam a humble enlightened being with no airs, that is all. I grew up to this position of eminence only because I had a Guru with a jata (the matted hair of Hindu sanyasis) that touched his sacred feet! It was the stories from his mortal life as a young man that changed my whole life and set me irrevocably on the path to greatness and glory.

We Indians have a very bad national habit-what we in Anayara refer to as 'the dog in the manger' syndrome. We don't use knowledge at our disposal, nor we allow others to make use of it.

I just don't belong there. Here I proudly present to you some great teachings from the life of my master Vishadananda

LOVE NOT THY NEIGHBOUR!

Master was about 19 then. He was pursuing a course in Philosophy at a college in Trivandrum.
As we know, his heart was filled with the nectar of compassion even before he thought of renunciation and oneness with the Omnipresent One. He liked to help others at whatever risk to himself, though not everybody liked his way of doing things.
It was by sheer coincidence that my master came to meet Mr.Narayanan at a hospital near his college. Master went there to donate blood to an unknown patient undergoing dialysis. After the sacred sacrifice, he learned that the recipient was none other than his neighbour, Narayanan! What a happy coincidence, he thought.
From the next day onwards, my master became a regular fixture at Narayanan's. They bestowed on him all respect and love due to a good samaritan. Sheela, Narayanan's charming wife, took extra pains to see that my Master got everything he needed. Of course, my Master was no heartless brute. He could not refrain from giving back all the compassion he had. Days went on.
Finally, the truth dawned on him: Sheela was in desperate need of love and protection which her husband, with his ever failing health could not provide. With a heart thirsting to be of service to others, he decided to serve Sheela with all his might.
The well being and happiness of Sheela-that became his cause, and he strove for it without respite. But one fine moonlit night, all his plans came to naught. Just because, he loved his neighbour. While he was making poor Sheela happy, her husband kicked the bucket, without knowing which they slept and slept. The morning found them together in the bedroom without any clue to the commotion outside. Soon, they understood: The mob barged into the room, beat them black and blue and tied them to a tamarind tree in the courtyard.
The rest is history: He escaped to Mumbai, then to Pune and from there to the North Pole!
Now, I don't have to write the moral of the story, right?Any way, this is lesson one.
Keep reading, and grow to become great!
